Board of Education · Meeting of August 23, 2023

Amherst school committees approve superintendent separation agreement. The Regional School Committee and Union 26 Committee voted to approve a mutual separation agreement with Superintendent Mike Morris, ending his employment August 31. Morris will receive 10 months severance, a payout for 54 vacation days, and health insurance coverage until other employment is found, up to 10 months.

The RSC approved 6-3 and the U26 approved 4-2, with opposition from Jennifer Shiao and Irv Rhodes, who questioned the decision to compensate a voluntary departure and act before the Title IX investigation results were complete.
