Pelham School Committee Fails Motion to Re-vote Regional Representatives
Board of Education · Meeting of October 5, 2023
AMHERST — Pelham School Committee deadlocks 2-2 in failed motion to re-elect Regional representatives. Chair Margaret Stancer determined an August 29 selection vote violated procedure because it was not separately itemized on the agenda; Committee member William Sherr moved for a new election, seconded by member Sarahbess Kenney, but members Thomas Fanning and Stancer opposed. No vacancy existed in the three-year terms, Fanning argued, so reopening the election would violate policy.
The current representatives remain in place; the committee plans to review voting procedures at future meetings.
