Regional School Committee appoints Kristen Yezierski as Treasurer
Board of Education · Meeting of May 26, 2026
Amherst Pelham Regional School Committee unanimously appoints Treasurer. The Committee voted to hire Kristen Yezierski, currently Assistant Treasurer for the City of Northampton, to replace retiring Treasurer Jill Berry, effective June 1, 2026, with a three-month transition period through August. Executive Director of Finance and Operations Shannon Bernacchia cited Ms.
Yezierski's extensive treasury and municipal experience, noting the appointment's importance as the district manages a middle school roof project and related borrowing. The Committee also heard a detailed presentation on integrating 145 Chestnut Street Academy sixth-grade students into Amherst Regional Middle School, which currently serves 375 students and has capacity for additional enrollment; members raised questions about special education services, staff morale, and operational impact. In related business, the Committee initiated discussion of updating the four-town Regional Agreement for legal compliance with state law and current government structures.
