Amherst Reminds Voters Of Sept. 1 State Primary Options
AMHERST — Amherst is reminding voters to plan ahead of the Tuesday, September 1, State Primary Election, while also opening applications for a free civic education program and keeping cooling centers available during the summer heat.

The State Primary Election is set for Tuesday, September 1. Voters must be registered in Amherst and have the option to vote by mail, vote absentee, vote early in person, or vote on election day, according to the town.
Town Hall also opened applications for "All About Amherst: Civic Academy," a free, eight-week program in which participants explore the inner workings of local government, talk directly with staff, and take behind-the-scenes tours. Applications are due by Sunday, September 20.
Cooling centers and outdoor facilities remain open across town for residents seeking a safe, cool space during the ongoing summer heat.

The Historical Commission meets Tuesday, August 18. South Church hosts a craft sale billed as "Christmas in August" on August 18, alongside a chicken barbecue, craft sale and an Amherst Community Band concert the same day. The library's Nature Storytime is set for Wednesday, August 19. Open-play pickleball continues at Mill River on Tuesday, August 18, and Thursday, August 20.
