Amherst Opens Community Preservation Act Grant Round

AMHERST — The town's Community Preservation Act Committee opened its annual grant application window Monday, inviting proposals for community housing, historic preservation, open space and recreation projects ahead of an Oct. 16 deadline.

The Community Preservation Act Committee is accepting applications for this year's funding round, with money available for projects supporting community housing, historic preservation, open space and recreation. Applications are due by Oct. 16.

Separately, the town has opened applications for downtown parking permits covering the upcoming permit season, which runs from Sept. 1 through May 31; residents and downtown workers can apply online through the town website.

The town is also taking applications for its All About Amherst Civic Academy, a free eight-week program in which participants learn how local government operates, meet with staff and take behind-the-scenes tours. Applications are due by Sunday, Sept. 20.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

South Church hosts its "Christmas in August" craft sale on Tuesday, Aug. 18, paired with a chicken barbecue and craft sale alongside an Amherst Community Band concert the same day.

The town's community calendar also lists a Nature Storytime program on Wednesday, Aug. 19, and a Veterans Breakfast for All on Friday, Aug. 21.
