Finance Committee · Meeting of May 28, 2026

Amherst Finance Committee voted 6-0 to recommend the $20.4 million regional school assessment. The committee backed Amherst's $20,434,781 share of the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District's FY27 budget, sending the recommendation to the Town Council. Members took no vote on a proposed change to lease language in the regional agreement and asked the town attorney whether it would cost Amherst authority over leases.

A long discussion of the elementary school budget, about $502,000 above the figure in the municipal order, ended without a vote. School Committee Chair Deb Leonard told members the special education share is "high and it's straining every town in the Commonwealth."
