Select Board · Meeting of August 17, 2026

Amherst Town Council voted 10-0 to fund Wildwood School upkeep for fiscal year 2027. Councilors approved orders FY27-04C and FY27-05B, a supplemental operating appropriation and a $50,000 capital appropriation drawn from available school excess capital funding. The Finance Committee had backed both 7-0 earlier Monday.

The Recreation Department moved to the Bangs Center instead, but staff said Wildwood is still wanted for storage, gym use and possible DPW swing space. Staff said they have no figure for a shutdown, and that the heating system is a concern after about one year offline. A question read at the committee put the revised total at $193,000 including capital.

Councilors also took a first read of the Article 18 clean energy bylaw, with a second read slated for Sept. 14.
