School committees convene, immediately move to executive session

Board of Education · Meeting of October 17, 2023

AMHERST — School committees enter executive session after transparency dispute. The Regional School Committee and Union 26 School Committee voted to enter closed session after members raised concerns about when a confidential report was shared. Jennifer Shiao objected that chairs withheld information between October 5 and October 10, while William Sherr noted he had proposed a confidentiality agreement to facilitate access.

Regional Committee voted 7-1-0 to enter executive session, and Union 26 voted 4-1-0, with Katie Lazdowski opposing both motions.
