School Committee votes to add sixth-grade placement debate to December agenda

AMHERST — School Committee schedules sixth-grade placement debate for December vote. A 3-2 November 18 vote added the issue to the December 16 agenda, with Committee Chair Jennifer Shiao and member Sarah Marshall voting against the motion. Committee members Bridget Hynes, Deb Leonard, and Irv Rhodes voted to proceed with discussion of moving sixth-graders from Amherst Regional Middle School to an alternative location.
The Committee also unanimously approved Superintendent Xi's FY 2025-2026 goals.
