Amherst School Committee Meeting · Meeting of October 13, 2026
Amherst School Committee voted unanimously to rate Superintendent Dr. Xi as needing improvement on her summative evaluation. The four-member committee present (Andrew Hart, Bridget Hynes, Sarah Marshall, and Chair Deborah Leonard) voted 4-0 for the "Needs Improvement" summative rating and the same rating for Standard II.
The vote followed a joint letter from more than 27 building administrators and staff expressing dismay about Dr. Xi's announced resignation following the 2026-27 school year and raising concerns about the tone of recent committee meetings and treatment of the Superintendent and member Sarah Marshall. Dr.
Xi reserved her right to submit a written response for the official record.
