School Committee Empowers Superintendent Search

Board of Education · Meeting of November 1, 2023

Amherst school committees advance superintendent search using outside firm. The Joint Amherst-Pelham Regional & Union 26 School Committee voted unanimously to authorize its Superintendent Search Subcommittee to either issue a request for proposals or present finalist executive search firms before the full committee for approval. The subcommittee had narrowed candidates to NESDEC and McPherson & Jacobson, both specialty firms in school leadership recruitment, after reaching out to multiple options including Hazard Young Attea Associates, which declined due to scheduling conflicts.

Search and screening costs are estimated between 15,000 and 20,000 dollars.
