School Committee approves minutes, accepts gifts, continues remote meetings

AMHERST — Pelham School Committee votes to continue holding remote meetings through April 2022 to preserve engagement. The committee voted unanimously to approve July 22 meeting minutes and decided without formal motion to maintain the remote format, citing its success in fostering community participation, with Superintendent Michael Morris suggesting the school gym as a potential future in-person venue. Members voted to accept a $1,000 gift to Mr.
Laurie's classroom from Ron Mannino plus Stop & Shop A+ awards. Dr. Morris presented the district's three-year ESSR-3 spending plan allocating COVID-related funding to certified nursing assistants, medical isolation facilities, health and safety supplies, HVAC improvements, outdoor seating, and curriculum development.
The committee deferred a decision on transferring sixth-grade students to ARMS pending action by the Regional and Amherst school committees.
