Amherst School Committee approves FY26 budget, announces school consolidation plan. The committee unanimously approved restoring positions under the town's 5 percent budget increase for elementary schools, set at $28.3 million, though the committee had requested 6 percent. The committee also unanimously approved fiscal 2025 budget transfers covering substitute staff, special education, transportation, and legal costs.
The district plans to consolidate three elementary schools into two PreK-5 schools and establish a 6th Grade Academy at ARMS, targeting an August 2026 opening.
