S&P Global Upgrades Amherst's Bond Rating
Amherst's creditworthiness got a lift this week: S&P Global Ratings upgraded the town's general obligation bond rating, according to a report the agency posted Thursday, Aug. 5. Town Hall, meanwhile, pushed residents toward a pair of Friday deadlines, while the school district opened registration for a jobs expo and the town's cultural calendar filled in for the coming week.
TOWN HALL The town is asking residents to weigh in on a brief survey about their experience with cable television service in Amherst, open through Friday, Aug. 7, and open to all residents even if they do not subscribe to cable, according to the town's website.
With summer heat continuing, the town reminded residents that cooling centers and outdoor facilities remain open for anyone who needs a safe, cool space, per the town's website.
SCHOOLS Amherst Central School District is holding a Substitute and Jobs Expo on Aug. 12 for all grades and buildings, with online applications due Thursday, Aug. 5, according to the district. The district also has a "Windermere Popsicles with Principals" event set for Aug. 29, offering free popsicles and informal conversation with school leaders.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The Amherst Public Art Commission is calling for artists to take part in two initiatives, Electrify Amherst and the Town Hall Art Gallery, with submissions for Electrify Amherst due Friday, Aug. 7, according to the town.
Music lovers can catch the Summer Concert Series with Kimaya Diggs at the Emily Dickinson Museum Homestead on Friday, Aug. 7.
