Regional schools table SOA plan, accept $104K track gift

Board of Education · Meeting of September 24, 2024

AMHERST — Regional school panel postpones Student Opportunity Act Plan pending community review. The Amherst-Pelham Regional School Committee voted 7-2 to table its three-year Student Opportunity Act Plan until April 23, citing the need to complete community input review, with Tilman Wolf and Deborah Leonard opposed to postponement. Curriculum Administrator Mary Kiely presented the plan, which uses evidence-based interventions including the Morning Movement and Mentoring program to address chronic absenteeism and achievement disparities.

The committee unanimously approved a $104,840 gift from the Amherst Hurricanes Athletic Boosters for high school track repair. The committee reviewed updates to the biennial Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan and an updated IEP Improvement Project.
