Pelham School Committees Discuss FY27 Budget Proposal

Pelham School and Finance Committees discussed the FY27 budget proposal without elementary school cuts.

Pelham School Committee · Meeting of April 7, 2026

AMHERST — Pelham School and Finance Committees discussed the FY27 budget proposal without elementary school cuts. At the joint virtual meeting, Executive Director Shannon Bernacchia presented a budget highlighting increased iReady costs, reduced administrative supplies and travel from central administration, and a second-year transportation contract increase. Finance Committee Chair John Trickey reported the committee can support the regional assessment without reducing elementary school funding, and the budget anticipates $109,000 in additional School Choice funding with no reductions.

School Committee Secretary Sarahbess Kenney objected to further discussion of Amherst School Committee seating for Pelham 6th graders, stating the question is outside Pelham's purview. The committee scheduled a budget hearing for March 26 and the budget vote for April 7.
