AMHERST — Pelham School Committee closes FY24 budget gap with choice funds. The committee voted unanimously to increase the School Choice Revolving Account budget from $369,000 to $402,500, using $33,500 in choice reserves and $40,772 in ESSER funds to address unbudgeted costs. Budget pressures stemmed from staffing absences, investigative costs, and emergency tree removal.
Superintendent Dr. Xiomara Herman noted that returning retirees are compensated at their last highest pay step, driving replacement costs higher than originally anticipated.
