Amherst School Committee Meeting · Meeting of October 13, 2026

Amherst School Committee allocated over $375,000 to intervention teaching and specialist paraprofessional support at elementary schools. The Committee voted 5-0 to allocate $189,371 in restored town funding to intervention positions after the Town Council voted to add $120,000 above the Town Manager's proposed budget. In a separate 4-1 vote, the Committee reallocated $187,500 from administrative and contingency accounts for five full-time paraprofessional positions in music, art, technology, library, and physical education; Sarah Marshall opposed, citing concern about making late-stage budget calculations.

The Committee also voted unanimously to relinquish Wildwood Elementary School property to the town effective September 1, 2026.
