AMHERST — Commission for Persons with Disabilities received a formal ADA complaint over pool access at Mill River Recreation Area. Pamela Nolan-Young, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion serving as 504 Coordinator, reported investigating the complaint that the town violated the ADA by denying access to the pool. The complainant has 30 days to appeal her findings to the Town Manager.
The commission voted unanimously to approve August 11 minutes and to adjourn. Members decided to review the town's ADA transition plan for recreation areas, beginning with War Memorial Pool and bathhouse. A MOD grant-funded accessibility project at Monson Library adding a ramp and doors is nearing completion.
