Cable committee launches Comcast license renewal with attorney guidance

AMHERST — Cable Television Advisory Committee opens Comcast license renewal process. Town Attorney Nicole Costanzo advised the six-member committee on four major negotiation areas: fees, service expansion, liquidated damages, and customer service standards. Costanzo reported subscriber numbers have fallen from approximately 6,000 in 2016 to roughly 2,600 currently and recommended an ascertainment process including resident surveys, a town-developed business plan with Amherst Media and the School District, and a public hearing.

The committee scheduled its next meeting for April 10, 2026.
