Amherst school board policy subcommittee reorganizes and drafts hiring reforms in response to concerns. Katie Lazdowski was named chair of the Policy Subcommittee, with William Sherr as vice chair. The subcommittee is developing a new hiring policy requiring public lottery selection for hiring committees, diverse and objective membership, and application to all staff, responding to community concerns about nepotism and transparency.
The subcommittee also is revising the district's curriculum selection policy to address public confusion about how curriculum is vetted and selected.
