Amherst School Committee defers calendar and budget decisions in lengthy session. The committee, led by Chair Sarah Marshall, unanimously accepted gifts to Crocker Farm and approved prior minutes at its December 17 meeting. Superintendent Xiomara Herman presented preliminary FY26 budget figures showing a $1.478 million deficit under level services, assuming a 3 percent increase in town support, and said painful budget changes are likely.

The committee also reviewed three options for the 2025-2026 academic calendar and plans to vote on the selection no later than February.
