Amherst-Pelham schools seek town budget adjustments

Amherst-Pelham schools propose budget adjustments to town council. The Fiscal Sustainability Subcommittee, including Jennifer Shiao, Bridget Hynes, and Deb Leonard, presented a response to December financial indicators correspondence requesting approximately $1 million in additional operating funding through five adjustments: lowering targeted surplus from five to four percent, allocating funds equivalent to 11.7 percent retirement-cost increases, adding 1.7 percent base increases in fiscal years 2025-2026, rectifying end-of-year surplus distribution imbalances, and developing equitable budgeting norms. The committee also appointed Meghan Dushko as district clerk and approved updated policies ACE and AC across all three committees: Regional 9-0, Pelham 3-0, Amherst 5-0.
