Amherst-Pelham Regional School Committee · Meeting of April 14, 2026

Amherst-Pelham schools presented a FY27 budget $1.14 million below level services. Finance Director Shannon Bernacchia reviewed the proposal, which includes approximately $659,000 in cuts and 9.17 full-time-equivalent position reductions affecting general-education teaching, special-education programming, counseling, BRIGHT programming, and paraeducator staffing. The budget would add a psychologist position and board-certified behavior analyst while relying on attrition and retirements rather than layoffs.

Community members, including those from the SEPAC Steering Committee, expressed concern that reductions disproportionately affected students with disabilities and student-facing positions.
