Amherst Cable Committee Moves Forward on Comcast Licensing Review

Cable Television Advisory Committee · Meeting of June 26, 2026

Amherst Cable Committee authorizes review of Comcast customer service standards. The Cable Television Advisory Committee voted unanimously to authorize Chair Brianna Sunryd to compile specific customer service concerns for discussion with town counsel as part of the town's ongoing Ascertainment process on Comcast's cable licensing compliance. The committee is requesting detailed customer service data, complaint-tracking procedures, and metrics on time to resolution across contact methods.

Committee member Sean Hannon, the town's IT Director, noted that findings of licensing non-compliance could open the door to seeking an alternative provider. A community survey on cable service will launch within the week and remain available through July 31.
